Syria is burning

How the revolution against Assad turned into a civil war

Por: Aron Lund

Syria is burning is a book about the rise and the historical roots of the Syrian civil war. After the Arab Spring arrived in Syria in 2011, the country saw a frightening spiral of violence. The war is on the verge of redrawing the political map of the Middle East and runs the risk of dragging several other countries into the abyss.

In Syria Burns, a detailed overview of one of the most difficult international problems of our time is given. Here, we are told about human tragedies, religious battles and big politics, but also about the hope for freedom and democracy that was drowned in violence. A violence that can only be understood in the light of how it took to form the dictatorship of the Assad family, born of the difficult history of Syria in the twentieth century.

Aron Lund is an independent author and writer. In 2010, he published The Dream of Damascus, the first book on the History of Syria in Swedish.
